Overview:

The IT Bench Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining computer hardware and software. This role involves working on various devices and systems, ensuring they are functioning optimally. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a passion for providing exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities:

Troubleshoot and repair hardware and software issues on desktops, laptops, printers, and other IT equipment.

Manage the efficient shipping and receiving of IT equipment, ensuring all items are accurately documented, securely packaged, and promptly processed for delivery or inventory.

Install and configure operating systems, software applications, and hardware components to properly prepare them for distribution and immediate use by the workforce.

Perform routine maintenance and upgrades on IT systems to ensure peak performance and reliability.

Conduct thorough testing of repaired equipment to ensure proper functionality and performance.

Provide high-quality support to customers, addressing their technical issues and concerns professionally and efficiently.

Maintain accurate records of repairs, installations, and maintenance activities, including detailed descriptions of issues and solutions in accordance with departmental procedures. Identify trends that may lead to alternative solutions.

Track and manage spare parts and equipment inventory, ensuring that necessary components are available for repairs.

Work closely with other IT team members and departments to resolve complex issues and implement solutions.

Qualifications:

Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred (or High School Diploma/GED with equivalent experience)

Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified Professional) are preferred

Strong background in hardware and software troubleshooting and repair is required and prior work experience in this area is preferred

Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing various types of computer hardware and software issues

Familiarity with operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux) and common office applications

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think critically and resolve issues efficiently

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users

High level of attention to detail and accuracy in diagnosing and repairing technical issues

Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
