Overview:

The Digital Laboratory Specialist will be an external subject matter expert on digital dental restoration and will provide denture design training services directly to ACI-affiliated practices.  This position will partner with affiliated doctors and practice staff to develop a workflow and design scalable and differentiated services relative to external alternatives.  As part of this role, the Digital Laboratory Specialist will train clinical and laboratory staff to utilize 3rd party design software, including but not limited to the 3Shape software and design technology, and communicate directly with the manufacturer to ensure quality and timely production. The Digital Laboratory Specialist will also develop standard operating procedures and problem-solve for root cause solutions throughout the digital workflow. 

Responsibilities:

GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Train/Instruct staff on all phases of the digital workflow including scan, design, and fabrication.

Train/Instruct staff to Read and understand work orders/prescriptions.

Examine digital clinical records to ensure all necessary information is present and accurate before proceeding to the design process.

Interpret and design dentures to meet client’s specifications using third-party denture design software.

Prepare design files and coordinate/communicate with clinic staff to obtain approval to proceed to manufacture.

Consistently pursue design quality, while minimizing redesigns/rework by quality control and practice satisfaction expectations.

Develop and update digital design standard operating procedures as necessary as well as create troubleshooting guides to refine the overall process.

Handle administrative tasks associated with design including but not limited to expertise use of manufacturing portal, review of case files, and understanding of end-to-end workflow.

Create Digital Design Training Material for clinic and lab staff.

Create Digital Denture Processing Training Material for lab staff.

Qualifications:

GENERAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Proficient in the fabrication of complete dentures and overdentures as well as possess a strong knowledge of dental science, anatomy, and esthetics.

Ability to meet tight deadlines while concurrently and consistently producing quality restorations.

Minimum of 3-5 years experience as a denture laboratory technician.

CDT preferred but not required at the time of hire. Must be willing to achieve certification within 18 months. (CDT Required in the State of Texas)

Experience with 3Shape, Trios, or other desktop scanners and design software a plus not required.
