Do you have teaching experience with Neurodiverse pupils and have a strong desire to make a difference to their lives?

Create Education are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate individual to join a team in East London that work with neurodiverse young people ages 11 – 19 with complex profiles. All of the pupils have educational health and care plans typically with a diagnosis of SEMH, ASD and associated conditions. The aim is to provide an environment where pupils can grow and develop socially, emotionally and academically. All pupils are encouraged to find ad express their creativity and are supported to achieve awards alongside the more traditional academic subjects.

At this school staff work to a therapeutic approach to education provision, promoting good pastoral care and therapeutically informed behaviour management strategies. This is even more important within our Primary environments where our focus is on high quality education and nurture. Pupils within the service will have been excluded from mainstream primary education or are currently non-attenders. It is of high importance that the teacher promotes the interests and well-being of their pupils, providing an environment that feels safe, secure and child focused.

Job Details – Qualified teacher – Newham

Planning, preparation, and delivery of all aspects of teaching and learning
Produce progress reports on individual pupils, statistics and regular updates to the SLT.
Differentiate curriculum delivery with a particular emphasis on Nurture approaches/teaching styles.
Devise schemes of work, lesson plans and thematic projects
Responsible for the Therapeutic Education Practitioners, supporting them with differentiating the curriculum to meet the needs of our neurodiverse pupils and devising Individual Education and Behaviour Plans to reflect their development needs.
Facilitate interventions from Individual Education and Behaviour Plans.
Use positive reinforcement as a key behaviour management tool
Maintaining good personal and professional boundaries
Ensuring risk assessments are in placePerson specification – Qualified teacher – Newham

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
Minimum of two years qualified teaching experience either in the primary or SEND sector.
SEND qualifications or training
Recent primary, SEND or nurture related teaching experience
Be able to offer a calm response to children with complex and co-morbid neurodiverse needs.
Prioritise workload effectively; organised with attention to detail.
Knowledge and awareness of Safeguarding & Child Protection Procedures
Working knowledge of National Curriculum and SEND Code of Practice.
