Facility Supervisor
Location: Newcastle upon Tyne
Salary: £26,873 - £28,770 per annum
Hours: 37 hours per week
Facility Services and Civic Management work across the city and Gateshead providing building cleaning, caretaking, school meals and welfare catering services.
They have a large team of cleaners, cleaner supervisors, facility supervisors (caretakers), catering assistants, assistant chef’s and chef’s working various hours and shifts in schools and public buildings.

The Role
An opportunity exists for a suitable individual to work within the Facility Services Division of City Operations, Neighbourhoods and Regulatory Services Directorate as a Facility Supervisor at The Primary School.
37 hours per week (Split Shift)
* 6.30-10.30 & 14.30-18.00 Monday to Thursday
* 6.30-10.00 & 14.30-18.00 Friday
To succeed in this role, it is essential that you must be able to undertake the split shift requirements of the role.
You will be responsible for the security of the premises, setting alarms, general health and safety issues relating to the building, as well as a range of porterage duties. There will be a responsibility for the supervision of cleaning staff.
You will be expected to be able to deal with varying workloads and the cleaning of a defined area equating to fifteen hours per week. You must be able to manage your own time.
There will need to be a degree of flexibility around certain key events in the school calendar e.g., parents’ evenings, governing body meetings, Christmas, and summer fairs etc. which will be arranged at the start of the academic year. You may be expected to be available to undertake lettings for the school when required.
To work in their busy and demanding school, you must be positive, hardworking, and able to forge positive relationships with staff, children, and parents. They are looking for a positive, hard-working individual with a strong commitment to high standards of service delivery and customer care.
The post requires an enhanced DBS check.

* Has good customer service skills.
* Good interpersonal skills with the ability to deal with problems on site.
* Knowledge of cleaning standards with the ability to undertake cleaning tasks.
* Capable of regular stooping, bending, lifting, and carrying of equipment, materials, furniture and climb ladders.
* Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work with limited supervision.
* Good spoken English with the ability to communicate effectively with the public.
* Experience of management/supervision of staff.
* Knowledge of Health and Safety procedures and how to apply them in the workplace.
* Is self-motivated and able to work to fixed deadlines.
