Hello,

My client in Chelmsford is currently in need of a CNC Setter Operator due to expansion.

Shift Pattern:

6-2pm/2-10pm (2 week rotation)

Role Purpose:

To set up, operate (including reading programs as required) and regular maintenance of our computer numeric controlled (CNC) machines. You will be responsible for ensuring we produce quality parts and tools specific to engineering drawings and client standards.

Responsibilities:

* Setting and operating of CNC Machining /Turning centres and Cutting Tools to prove out first off and production, in line with customer requirements and specifications.

* supporting our production engineers and machinists, by setting up new tools and creating datum reference points to ensure smooth running of the machine.

* Oversee machinery set up to make sure arrangement is safe and ready to handle its assigned load

* Running artefacts in response to tool breakages. Interpret, & understand kinematics

* Raising ECR’s

* Safely load and unload raw materials into the CNC machines.

* Cuts, drills or mills materials in machine

* Identifies solutions for process improvement (adjustments to speed, tool paths, cut, and other factors)

* Performs work by following the company's operating standards, procedures and instructions from shift leads/shift manager

* Regularly inspects machines for mechanical and safety issues

* Perform preventative and regular maintenance on machines, equipment and tools

* Makes sure machines remain well-stocked so that as few interruptions of service as possible exist

* Examine machinery production output to verify the product is acceptable to move onto the next part of the production process

* Isolate and potentially quarantine any piece that may not conform to customer specifications and report accordingly.

* Escalate any issues with NC tool paths to the responsible CAM programmer/Line manager.

* Maintain a clean and safe working environment.

* Manual and/or hand finishing of machined components.

* Support ‘goods out’ by packaging machined components ready for dispatch.

* Comply with quality standards and customer specifications by setting gauges and utilising manual measuring instruments appropriately.

* Troubleshoot problems during production processes to ensure adherence to quality standards.

* Ensure that the correct tooling is available to complete scheduled jobs and plan proactively for the next job.

* Comply with health, safety & environmental procedures.

Skills:

- Engineering background operating CNC machines (ideally producing metal components)

- Experience CNC turning using Mitsubishi interfaces and DMG turning centres.

- Experience using Siemens and/or Mazatrol interfaces and DMG and/or MAZAK machine tools.

- Experience reading engineering drawings / blueprints and working to extremely tight tolerances, familiar with using standard measuring equipment and applying the necessary skills to self inspect and work closely with QC.

- Experience in geometric tolerancing and dimensioning.

- Experience in on machine programming.

- Practical knowledge of measuring tools, equipment, and concepts, understanding of the correct tooling for the correct job and the benefits of such practices.

- Solid understanding of machining parameters, able to confidently diagnose production issues and work alongside CAM Programmers to rectify those issues as efficiently as possible.

- Experience of 5 axis Machining, and the production process
