Position: Quality Engineer (NCR/FAIR Biased)
£35 - £40k DOE
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Quality Engineer with a focus on NCR (Non-Conformance Reports) and FAIR (First Article Inspection Reports). This role involves investigating customer complaints, internal NCRs, supplier issues, and handling concession and deviation requests. The successful candidate will play a key role in improving quality processes, liaising with both customers and suppliers, and ensuring internal standards are maintained through audits and training.
Job Overview:
In this role, you will investigate NCRs, customer complaints, and implement corrective and preventive actions. You'll also administer RDNs, liaise with suppliers, and be responsible for creating and maintaining FAIR templates and documents. Internal auditing and training staff on business management processes are key elements of the role. This position offers the chance to contribute to the continual improvement of quality standards within a well-established engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Investigate internal NCRs and implement containment, corrective, and preventive actions.
* Administer RDNs and collaborate with suppliers to resolve quality issues.
* Investigate customer complaints and implement corrective and preventive measures.
* Create and submit concession/deviation requests to customers.
* Facilitate Customer/Third Party Witness and Hold Point activities.
* Conduct internal audits (once qualified, if certification is not already held).
* Develop and update Work Instructions (WIs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
* Train staff on internal business management procedures.
* Create FAIR templates and balloon drawings.
* Assist the QA department with paperwork queries and issues.
* Any other tasks as reasonably required by the company.
Key Relationships:
* Ability to build good working relationships within the quality department.
* Strong collaboration with other departments across the business.
* Comfortable communicating with employees at all levels of seniority within the organisation.
Required Knowledge & Experience:
* Experience with NCR investigations and 8D problem-solving methodologies.
* Proven ability to identify root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions.
* Strong understanding of engineering drawings and geometric tolerances.
* Ability to interpret international standards and customer specifications.
* Experience with internal procedure and process training.
* Attention to detail and ability to work to exacting standards.
* Team player with a good knowledge of Microsoft Office.
* A willingness to learn and grow as the company and the role develop.
Desirable:
* Knowledge of Epicor Vantage software.
* Experience creating FAIR documentation.
* Qualified Internal Auditor to ISO 9001.
Desired Competencies:
* Strong communication skills at all levels within the business.
* Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships.
* Ability to work under pressure with a positive and committed attitude.
