Title: System Engineering Manager
Location: Hybrid - 2 a week in office - Nottingham, London or Manchester
Salary: Up to £78k + Package

Forsyth Barnes are partnering with a leading utilities company to recruit a Systems Engineering Manager to play a crucial role in shaping a large-scale national infrastructure project. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to an ambitious initiative that will connect millions of homes and businesses to a secure, scalable digital network, supporting the UK's energy transformation goals.

About the Role:

As the Systems Engineering Manager, you will lead the delivery and implementation of engineering processes that ensure the successful deployment of a critical national infrastructure project. You’ll be responsible for developing and maintaining the Systems Engineering Management Plan (SEMP) while ensuring high-quality standards across all phases of the project lifecycle.

In this role, you’ll work closely with various teams across the organisation, providing leadership and guidance on systems engineering practices. You'll also play a key role in driving technical solutions, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and helping to shape the systems engineering framework for long-term success.

Key Responsibilities:

* Develop, implement, and maintain the System Engineering Management Plan (SEMP) to support project goals.

* Collaborate with project stakeholders, including architecture and operations teams, to ensure seamless delivery of system designs and artefacts.

* Lead the review of project documentation to ensure it meets the highest standards.

* Act as the primary point of contact for systems engineering matters, providing mentoring and expert advice.

* Ensure systems documentation complies with organisational policies and standards.

* Oversee the adoption of new systems engineering standards across the organisation.

Skills & Experience Required:

* Proven experience leading large-scale systems engineering or infrastructure projects.

* Strong knowledge of INCOSE or ISO 15288 standards.

* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

* Experience managing cross-functional teams and working with diverse stakeholders.

* Familiarity with enterprise architecture tools such as UML, ArchiMate, or BizzDesign.

Desirable Skills:

* Experience with large-scale IT systems implementation.

* Knowledge of the energy industry or experience working on national infrastructure projects.

* Familiarity with regulatory bodies such as BEIS, Ofgem, or other governing organisations
