Special Instructions for Applicants:

Under general supervision of the Manager of Payroll Operations & HR Projects, responsibilities include providing a wide range of payroll services to the client departments of the Human Resources and Payroll Operations Center (HRPOC). The position is responsible for processing biweekly and monthly transactions and assisting clients in meeting submission deadlines. Work in conjunction with departmental payroll representatives, the Payroll Partners, and UCPath Center to resolve discrepancies. Deliver exemplary customer service while addressing all inquiries made to the HRPOC. Incumbent primarily performs various personnel transactions in accordance with policy and procedures, collective bargaining agreements, and directive from Campus Human Resources. Maintains accurate and current personnel information of all on-line personnel transactions using PeopleSoft HRMS. Independently set priorities and complete functions, using deadline schedules, manuals, and office procedures as guidelines. HRPOC is a service center that services approximately 5,000 employees, supporting a wide range of union represented employees as well as administrative staff.

The HR & Payroll Operations Center provides human resources and payroll services to a diverse client pool and assists with ongoing campus initiatives and special projects.

Position Summary:

UCLA, Campus Human Resources is seeking a Personnel and Payroll Specialist to join its HR & Payroll Operations Center team. As a Personnel and Payroll Specialist, providing a wide range of payroll services to the client departments of the Human Resources and Payroll Operations Center. Qualifications:

Two years Experience completing Personnel & Payroll transactions utilizing online systems. (Required)

Experience with PeopleSoft HRMS. (Preferred)

Working knowledge of HR, Payroll and time and attendance systems and applications. (Required)

Ability to understand and interpret University policies, labor contracts and the application of these guidelines in the payroll process, where applicable. (Required)

Skills in basic arithmetic to add, subtract, multiply or divide figures to compute rates. (Required)

Knowledge of basic accounting principles, including skill in performing accounting tasks such as debiting, crediting, and reconciling expenditures. (Required)

Skill in working independently with strong attention to detail and following through on assignments with minimal direction and supervision, according to established deadlines, working effectively under continual interruptions and heavy workload. (Required)

Skill in writing and speaking concisely and logically using grammatically correct language to convey information and explain policies and procedures. (Required)

Proficient knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Office and business software including intermediate knowledge of word processing and spreadsheets. (Required)

Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and collaborative working relationships with staff, and management. (Required)

Ability to set goals and priorities which accurately reflect the relative importance of job responsibilities when faced with fluctuating workloads, conflicting deadlines and competing requirements. (Required)

Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive issues. (Required)

Ability to have a highly developed sense of integrity, compassion and commitment to customer satisfaction. (Required)

Ability to work a flexible schedule, including overtime, as dictated by operational needs. (Required)

Education, Licenses, Certifications, & Professional Affiliations:

Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. (Required)

Ability to obtain certification as fingerprint roller (Required)
