The Business Contracting Analyst II is responsible for the delivery of business contracting solutions to Revenue Cycle, Manage Care Contracting, and Finance to facilitate making more informed and actionable business decisions. Uses development tools to generate reports, dashboards and analytical solutions according to business rules and specifications. This position is responsible to support the Manage Care contracting department through the analysis and review of financial performance of managed care contracts. Demonstrated ability to work independently and/or in a team to train, guide, or assist others to perform complex assignments. Performs in-depth analysis of workflows, data collection and analytics.

Responsibilities:

(60%)* Collaborates and supports department reporting needs Work with internal customers to identify reporting needs, gather and document requirements, build and test reports, and analytical solutions. Evaluates contract performance and identify opportunities for improvement, cost savings, and revenue enhancement. Analyzes existing and potential managed care contracts to ensure alignment with organizational goals. Assists in cross training team members and users. Communicates with third-party vendors and regulatory organizations to understand and manage data requirements and deliverables.

(15%)* Supports, Trouble-shooting and Problem solving. Supports existing portfolio of reports, dashboards, analytical solutions, and tune where necessary. Supports and troubleshoot existing ETL processes.

(15%)*Leads small to medium support or project initiatives.

(10%)* Responsible for leading the efforts of small to medium initiatives including planning the work and managing the effort to the plan.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provides excellent customer service to all customers while performing duties.

Collaborates with the contract negotiation team to provide data-driven insights and recommendations during negotiations with payers.

Leads meetings, prioritize, resolve conflicts, maintain issues lists, and manage a project plan.

Demonstrate strong project management and organizational skills.

Communicates effectively with project leadership, finance, legal and operational departments to ensure alignment of financial and contracting strategies.

Education: Bachelor's degree.  

Comments: Bachelors degree in information technology, business, or healthcare field required.

Other Information:

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND SKILLS:

Minimum of 3-5 years experience in healthcare analytics, contracting, or a related field. Strong understanding of healthcare revenue cycle and reimbursement.

Experience utilizing and navigating an Electronic Health Record, Epic preferred.

Experience with integrating data from heterogeneous systems (flat files, Excel as well as relational database systems.)

Team orientation, project leadership, problem solving, and communication skills required. Proficient with Microsoft Excel.

Strong communication skills with ability to collaborate at multiple organization levels across the health system as required, including both technical and non-technical staff.

Epic trained and / or certified preferred. Project management experience.

Proficiency in data analysis tools.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death.

Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position.

Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description.

Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s).

Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching.

Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required.

Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake.

Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.

Physical Demand Level: Sedentary. Must be able to occasionally (0-33% of the workday) lift or carry 0-10 lbs.
