Special Collections and Archives (SCA) houses the university's collections of rare books, manuscripts, photographs, ephemera, born-digital files, and other unique materials. Responsibilities:

Working under the general direction of the Head of Special Collections & Archives, this position applies advanced professional concepts to oversee, coordinate, and manage in-house and out-sourced digitization projects. The position manages digitization projects including formulating strategies and administering policies, processes, and resources.

The position serves as the primary point-person for digitization projects concerning Special Collections & Archives material and coordinates and facilitates production and ingest workflows according to established policies, licensing and intellectual property guidelines, and donor restrictions. Duties include implementing workflows, documentation of digital projects; training, scheduling, and supervising student workers; quality control of assets and metadata; and assisting with gathering, analyzing, and reporting statistics.

The position may lead a team of staff and/or student assistants. The position oversees associated records work, determining staffing needs, assigning work, and monitoring productivity and quality. Analyzes, evaluates, interprets and revises or proposes revisions to established guidelines. Creates documentation of digitization project procedures and functions, setting goals and priorities for digital project planning and implementation. Acts as a liaison with vendors, library administration, selectors, or other staff and librarians in establishing appropriate digitization project arrangements. Analyzes, evaluates, interprets and revises or proposes revisions to established operational guidelines within scope of assigned responsibilities.

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $71,345.64 - $77,239.91(Annual).

Required:

Bachelor’s degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.

Five years of digitization project experience.

Advanced professional knowledge enabling the performance of a full range of coordinating, and/or highly specialized functional subject area activities. This knowledge may be acquired through considerable library experience, possibly in combination with specialized training and skills or relevant academic preparation.

Advanced knowledge of applicable systems and databases.

Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills to address highly complex or specialized solutions.

Advanced interpersonal skills to deal with a variety of people and situations, including providing guidance and leadership to other library professionals.

Ability to work creatively, collaboratively, and effectively and to promote teamwork, diversity, equality, and inclusiveness within UCI Libraries and the campus.

Bachelor’s degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.

Five years of digitization project experience.
