Exciting Opportunity: Join West Sussex Adult Services During a Period of Transformation!
West Sussex Adult Services are undergoing a dynamic transformation, and we're excited to invite passionate professionals to join our new specialist Mental Health Social Work Service. This service integrates Older People’s and Working Age Mental Health Teams, alongside a Countywide AMHP Service. Now is the perfect time to be part of this innovative team, where you’ll play a crucial role in delivering high-quality mental health interventions.
Why Join Us?
We are committed to building a centre of excellence and are looking for individuals who share our values. West Sussex offers a supportive environment with professional supervision, balanced challenges, and opportunities for career development. We focus on evidence-based practices to ensure the best outcomes for our residents.
The Role: As a pivotal member of our AMHP Service, you will be part of a cutting-edge “Hub and Spoke” model, providing a 24-hour AMHP service, 365 days a year. You’ll lead and perform Mental Health Act Assessments within a rolling rota shift pattern, triaging incoming cases and ensuring a timely, legally compliant response to assessment requests.
You’ll work closely with Crisis Teams, Sussex Police, South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAMB), general acute hospitals, and other agencies to deliver the highest quality mental health interventions. The role demands strong triage skills, the ability to manage risk and competing demands, and a solid grounding in Mental Health legislation.
What We Offer:
* Specialist Supervision: Regular individual and peer supervision from experienced professionals.
* Comprehensive Training: Access to specialist training and development opportunities to ensure you’re up to date with all legislation.
* Enhanced Pay: Competitive salary with additional compensation for undertaking AMHP duties.
* Career Growth: Opportunities to mentor and supervise AMHP students, ensuring you can share your expertise and grow in your role.
What You’ll Need to Succeed:
* Registered Professional: You must be a qualified Social Worker, Nurse, Occupational Therapist, or Psychologist, with a valid driving license and extensive knowledge of relevant legislation (Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, etc.).
* AMHP Authorization: You must currently be authorized as an AMHP with significant experience in conducting MHA assessments.
* Team Player & Leader: You’ll need the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team, with the skills to lead, supervise, and mentor colleagues.
* Adaptability: The role operates on a rolling rota outside of traditional office hours, so flexibility and resilience are key
