Location: Newcastle

Salary: £75 - £100 per day

Contract: Full-time/Part-time

Are you passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of students with Special Educational Needs (SEN)?

GSL Education are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant school in Newcastle. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to support young learners and help them achieve their full potential.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in assisting teachers in delivering tailored learning experiences to children with additional needs. You’ll work closely with students, providing one-on-one support, ensuring they are engaged and progressing in the classroom.

Responsibilities of an SEN Teaching Assistant:

Support the class teacher in delivering lessons tailored to the individual needs of SEN students.
Provide one-to-one or small group support to students, helping them with learning and development.
Assist in creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
Help implement personalised education plans (IEPs) and contribute to progress tracking.
Provide emotional and behavioural support to students where needed.
Communicate effectively with staff, parents, and carers regarding student progress.
Requirements for the SEN Teaching Assistant role:

A recognised teaching assistant qualification (e.g. CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ).
Previous experience working as an SEN Teaching Assistant or in a similar role is desirable.
A strong understanding of SEN and the ability to adapt to the needs of each child.
Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills.
A strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
Must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including an enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
