Overview:

Prairie State Generating Company is looking for college students who are interested in a summer intern program in the corporate Accounting/Finance environment of the power generation and coal mining industries.  A limited number of internships are available for college students enrolled in a specific curriculum.  Participating as an intern will provide experience and exposure to state-of-the-art technology in coal mining and power generation operation.   Student interns will receive industry experience, hands-on training, paid intern program and exposure to industry professionals.

Responsibilities:

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following (other duties and responsibilities may be assigned):

Prepare monthly account reconciliations.

Assist with treasury functions, including weekly and monthly cash reports.

Perform accounts payable and general accounting duties as assigned.

Assist with the evaluation and testing of internal accounting controls.

Assist with the preparation of ad hoc and other internal reports.

Maintain electronic/archived record of accounts payable and other accounting related records.

Work on special accounting projects which may include projects in Accounts Payable, Budgeting / Forecasting, Payroll, Tax, Compliance Assurance, and monthly financial closing processes.

Provide support to the Finance team as assigned.

Must have regular and reliable attendance.

Education/Experience

To be considered, an individual MUST be enrolled in a college degree program in Accounting, Finance or related field.

Must be in good academic standing.

MUST be available for a 12-week program beginning in Late-May to Mid-August.

Certification/Licensure

N/A

Knowledge of

General Accounting and Finance.

Skills and Abilities

Attention to detail

Ability to clearly communicate with co-workers, supervisors, and others.

Ability to read and understand operating and accounting policies and procedures.

Ability to work unsupervised as required.

Ability to work with a team.

Work Environment
