Overview:

The Group Sales Manager is responsible for represents the hotel to new customer relationships, while maintaining existing relationships with assigned accounts while consistently striving to maximize revenue in rooms, public space, F&B, and all additional products and services the hotel has to offer.

Salary Range $75,000/year - $85,000/year

Responsibilities:

Duties and Responsibilities:

• A warm personality, attentive, and presentable.

• Committed to delivering high levels of customer service.

• Responds courteously and efficiently to queries and problems from guests, and all staff.

• Represent hotel by soliciting, responding to and negotiating with persons requiring large and complex group accommodations (generally over 50 guest rooms) with or without meeting space and/or on-site (hotel) catering

• Represent hotel in significant interactions dealing with customers relative to sales and operational questions, concerns, and issues.

• Negotiate contracts with customers and commission agreements with third party agencies.

• Initiate the preparation of proposals and/or contracts to advise prospective customers primarily of the hotel guest rooms, but also meeting space and/or banquet date, space and rate availability. Develop and quote prices.

• Engage in outside sales activities to discuss business opportunities and entertain customers in local and assigned markets and direct site visits

• Attend weekly sales departmental meeting and other scheduled meetings to support business operations, e.g., tentative review, lost business review, group-pick up, etc.

• Conduct site inspections with potential customers, visiting guest rooms, meeting space and banquet facilities, as well as other hotel facilities

Supportive functions:

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the company.

• Provide guidance to direct and indirect team

With an innovative mind set, identify and enthusiastically create new contacts and develop sales leads through phone solicitation/prospecting, sales calls, trade shows, etc.

Respond to sales inquiries and contact potential clients to build and nurture lasting business relationships.

Understand the overall market - competitors' strengths and weaknesses, economic trends, supply and demand etc. and strategically sell against our competition.

Take initiative to go beyond the ordinary to differentiate us from the competition and create loyalty.

Understand fully the hotel amenities, venues and options and provide recommendations to create authentic and distinctively different experiences for our group guests.

Anticipate our guests needs and respond promptly.

Create, execute and support the operational aspects of business booked (e.g., generating proposal, writing contract, customer correspondence).

Produce quotes and written confirmation to all clients

Maintain timely and accurate recording of activity to include appointments, calls made and business leads

Qualifications:

Prerequisites:

• Excellent communication and listening skills.

• Ability to work under pressure.

• Excellent organizational and prioritization skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.

• Must be mature, pleasant, courteous, cooperative and an enthusiastic team player who displays good human relations’ skills.

• Must be flexible in working hours, including weekends, evenings and holidays.

• Basic knowledge of the hotel structure/layout and how all departments interact

• Basic knowledge of various types of set up styles used in the meeting rooms

• Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to diffuse anger, collect accurate information and resolve conflicts

• Proficiency in the use and operation of computer systems with the ability to navigate efficiently

• through Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, Delphi, and all other systems hotel uses

• Ability to complete a contract in compliance with all checklists, standards and hotel policies.

• Interpersonal skills to provide overall guest satisfaction.

Paperwork may not be the most fun part of the job but organization and the ability to create, implement and analyze manual and automated reports coupled with a comprehensive knowledge of technical and managerial applications of PMS, Delphi and appropriate PC applications will keep you organized and ensure you have more time to sell!
