Kleinfelder has an exciting opportunity available for an HR Business Partner for the West Division, reporting to the West Division Sr Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP).   

Hybrid position, willing to go into the office two – three days a week; must be close to one of the So California offices: Riverside, Laguna Hills, San Diego

Position Responsibilities

The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) will work in collaboration and provide consultative support to managers in the West Division responsible on matters that include, but are not limited to organizational effectiveness, workforce planning, compensation planning, talent acquisition and development, and performance management activities. The HRBP will offer best practices that support business goals resulting in client-focused solutions.

Specific tasks/activities may include the following:

Works in collaboration with assigned managers and/or business leaders to evaluate existing staff capabilities, identify gaps, and develop customized staff development initiatives that may include recruitment, training, teambuilding, and/or performance management to fulfill resource requirements.

Engages and executes, proactively, against strategic business initiatives identified in collaboration with division/ business unit.

Champions the Talent Management process and facilitate review sessions. Identify skill gaps and recommend appropriate training or opportunities to increase required skills and competencies.

Under supervision of the Senior HR Business Partner, assist with complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough, and objective investigations as assigned.

Provides guidance and input on, workforce planning. Provides coaching and/or training to advance the skills of the leadership team, specifically their ability to manage day-to-day employee relations issues.

Reviews and proposes solutions to employee concerns/complaints to ensure their respective workplace is safe and allows for maximum efficiency/productivity.

Supports the organization’s initiatives, designed to improve profitability.

Proactively supports the delivery of HR Processes.

Maintains in depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with Senior HR Business Partner as needed/required.

Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (coaching, counseling, career development, and disciplinary actions).

Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, increase productivity and retention.

Provides HR Policy guidance and interpretation.

Experience: 6+ years of related experience, 3 - 4 years of working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee relations, diversity, performance management, federal and state respective employment laws.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent combination of experience and education is required. Master’s degree in human resources or related field preferred.

Certification/Registration: PHR or SHRM-CP required; SPHR or SHRM-SCP desired.

Other Knowledge and Skills: Excellent communication, both written and verbal, consulting skills and knowledge of company products and operations. Ability to manage competing demands and conflicting priorities, across multiple delivery areas and/or business units. Proven conflict management skills; superb client management experience, self-directed and motivated. Initiative to identify and anticipate client needs and make recommendations for implementation.
