Overview:
Works under the general supervision of the Legal Department primarily responsible for supporting Patelco Credit Union (the “Credit Union”) legal function and activities. This position will assist the Legal Department in the implementation and maintenance of legal risk management programs and policies, provide guidance and advice to various business units on legal matters, and assist in managing relationships with external legal counsel.
Responsibilities:
Perform legal research and analysis on various legal issues and regulatory matters.
Review and revise legal documents using track changes and the compare function in MS Word.
Manage and maintain legal files.
Coordinate responses to legal correspondence, including but not limited to summons, subpoenas, depositions notices, etc.
Assist the Legal Department in providing counsel, guidance, and strategy regarding legal and regulatory matters or issues involving the credit union.
Assist the Legal Department to ensure that the policies, procedures, and forms of the credit union comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and credit union policy.
Remain informed of legal and regulatory changes and developments affecting the credit union industry and financial services.
Coordinate with the Legal Department and Specialized Accounts in advising on guardianships, POAs, etc.
Coordinate with the Legal Department and Member Experience in advising on regulatory complaints, CEO/Board complaints, etc.
Manage Litigation Case Management for existing cases and new ones.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be bondable and able to perform each essential duty with a high degree of competence.
Hard-working and a self-starter with the ability to operate independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines
Flexible and eager to support a wide range of legal and compliance matters
Must have ability to read, analyze, and interpret laws, regulations, and procedure manuals.
Excellent writing, oral communication, and organizational skills
Willingness to not just advise, but find solutions
Comfortable navigating complicated and nuanced legal issues
Proven ability to lead, build relationships, and work effectively in a highly cross-functional organization
Ability to consistently prioritize workflow with heavy emphasis based on business impact.
Uses a high level of initiative and discretion in prioritizing work and performing duties that are complex and confidential in nature (including but not limited to, proprietary and privileged documents, member nonpublic personal information, and employee information).
Understand and comply with all applicable federal and state laws and banking regulations (including those related to OFAC and Bank Secrecy Act / Anti-Money Laundering compliance) and Patelco Credit Union's policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
An associate degree is required and/or 5 to 7 years of legal related experience in a financial institution, government agency, or law firm.
Capable of quickly identifying and resolving issues, including balancing legal and business risks, and giving clear and concise advice in order to drive matters to close
Experience in financial institution is preferred but not required.
This role is located at Dublin HQ
Target Base Pay:
$41.71 - $52.13 / per hour
