Primary Responsibilities:
The Senior Server Engineer is a critical role responsible for server and storage infrastructure in the enterprise. This individual will be a technical expert with experience in various operating systems, virtualization technologies, and cloud solutions. They will play a key role in ensuring the stability, performance, and security of the company's IT infrastructure. Essential Functions:
Lead in the design, acquisition, implementation, and support of cloud and on-premise compute and storage infrastructure.
Analyze infrastructure to determine and resolve inefficiencies.
Manage infrastructure projects and make recommendations on solutions.
Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in infrastructure technology and best practices.
Collaborate with network engineers, security engineers and other IT professionals.
Technical Leadership and Project Management
Provide technical leadership and overall project management of various essential and high visibility projects.
Technical lead for design and administration decisions related to Infrastructure.
Training/Mentoring: Promote the professional growth of the team.
Support and Operations
Performance and capacity planning: monitor, reconfigure and tune hardware and software for performance improvements and future scalability.
Provide Tier III support for essential infrastructure as needed. Investigate and troubleshoot issues.
Ensure that systems are running at optimal performance and best practice.
Minimum Requirements, Qualifications, Additional Skills, Aptitude:
Experience: 8+ years of experience in IT infrastructure roles, with at least 3 years in a senior or lead position in a 24/7 enterprise environment.
Project Management: Proven track record of managing and delivering IT infrastructure projects
Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and make decisions based on data.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Certifications: Relevant certifications (Microsoft, VMware, AWS) are highly desirable.
Technical Expertise:
Deep technical knowledge of Windows Server and Active Directory (both on-prem and Azure).
Proficient in virtualization technologies, particularly VMware; experience with Hyper-V is a plus.
Proficient in scripting languages (PowerShell preferred)
Ability to learn and adapt new technologies
