Step into Your New Role

Kleinfelder is looking to add a dynamic experienced Senior Engineering Project Manager to join us in the Southeast with proximity to our Atlanta GA, Charlotte NC or Raleigh NC office.  The Engineering Project Manager manages all phases of project delivery including initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, controlling and closing. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated skills and broad knowledge in natural gas and liquids pipeline infrastructure projects and is able to independently evaluate, select and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to lead project execution. Projects range in size and complexity from small to large, including both natural gas distribution and transmission; liquids pipelines; and terminals, facilities and stations type projects.  

Key Responsibilities include:

Mentor and coach project team members and provide constructive feedback on team member performance

Work with client organization staff and Kleinfelder Client Account Manager to identify, develop, and propose on future work assignments

Develop scope of work, project budgets, work breakdown structures and schedules

Develop project staffing plans

Effectively secure project resources, complete proposals, develop contracts, maintain project records, monitor project, bill clients, collect receivables and close out

Prepare pipeline and facility designs, including the review of designs and documentation to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards and design criteria 

Construction specification and bid package preparation 

Pipeline design and material selection 

Alternative/Feasibility studies 

Develop status reports with task completion, progress, challenges, and solutions 

Oversee pursuits, designate the appropriate resources to projects, define client needs, address client concerns and manage engineering resources within budget

Lead and participate in technical, cost, and scheduling decisions for interdisciplinary teams ensuring company quality standards and driving customer value

Nurture and grow client relationships and contracts that include complex, multi-disciplinary projects

Leading, growing and mentoring staff – supporting the achievement of professional career goals

Devise new approaches to problems encountered

Manage all phases of project execution including project organization, subcontractor management, scheduling, financial management, health and safety stewardship, and reporting

Collaborate on a program of design and construction management projects striving for continuous improvement in process development and execution

Build relationships on technical and client service teams and within client organizations

Communicate effectively with internal and external teams of clients and stakeholders

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering

Professional Engineer (PE) and PMP – highly preferred

8+ years of related pipeline and energy infrastructure experience

Minimum 10 years project planning / management experience with a background in utilizing standard tools and information to make tactical course corrections regarding budgeting, scheduling, and scope changes

Ability to assess and resolve issues and conflicts internally and externally

Production design experience either first-hand or through reviews of work products and independent technical reviews

Valid Driver’s license

Active in external organizations is highly preferred

Ability to travel 20-25%
