Central is currently recruiting for seven permanent Young People's Caseworkers, to work in the Lewisham & Lambeth areas. The service provides support to young people to help them secure a place on the housing register or find appropriate rental properties which enable them to regain their independence.

The successful candidate will be required to work 37.5 hours per week, working across Monday – Sunday on a rota basis, covering 7.5 hour shifts between 8AM to 10PM. This role is on a permanent basis. The salary is £26,513.00 per annum

In this position, you will be required to:

* Carry out needs and risk assessments, complete support plans, provide support, carry out reviews and welfare checks

* Support young people to develop their day to day household skills through teaching and practical support with cleaning, cooking, shopping, gardening and all other normal day to day activities in and around their home

* Support young people with all parts of their daily lives, such as money and home management including finances to maximise their income and budgeting to cover domestic bills and living expenses

* Help young people reach their goals and live the life they want by giving them one-on-one support, guidance and coaching

* Support young people to sustain their housing and identify move on opportunities which meets their future needs

* Ensure that tenants needs are met by liaising with other organisations providing access to community-based services and resources

* Liaise with other external agencies such as Benefit Departments, Local Authorities, Health professionals/agencies etc

* Check resident’s accommodation to see if any necessary repairs are needed or whether there could be any safety issues which may need to be managed

* Accurately input all client data onto an electronic monitoring system ensuring records are maintained to evidence key performance targets and comply with commissioner requirements

* Participate in customer reviews, team meetings and training courses

* Liaise promptly with colleagues, partner agencies and other stakeholders regarding safeguarding, welfare and risk concerns

Please note, this role involves lone working.

* Experience of providing support to young people with complex needs in the community or within a supported living environment

* Experience of working with vulnerable people and an understanding of safeguarding of vulnerable adults

* Provide good outcomes for the young people ensuring successful move on from the service

* Able to communicate effectively with customers, staff, external agencies and stakeholders

* Knowledge of Health and Safety in a supported housing environment

* Effective at report writing and have good IT literacy and can confidently use Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint and data entry systems

* Ability and confidence to lone work and as part of a team

Please note; you’ll need to answer three application questions to be submitted along with your CV and if appointed your job title will be Housing Support Worker.

In order to register with Central Recruitment Services for temporary agency work, candidates must meet the following criteria:

* Current valid right to work in the UK

* Minimum 12 months’ of paid experience in a front line social care role within the last 3 years* (unless recruitment criteria states otherwise)

* A fully enhanced DBS either registered on the DBS update service or issued within the last 12 months, or willingness to apply for one through Central (at a cost of £50)

* Employment or education history to cover the last 5 years which can be verified through the referencing process
