The Opportunity

An opportunity has arisen for a Senior HR Business Partner within our Cement division. This role offers a unique chance to drive strategic HR initiatives and support business transformation in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Responsible for aligning HR strategies with business objectives, the Senior HR Business Partner will work closely with senior leaders to enhance organisational performance, foster a culture of continuous improvement, and ensure best practices across our operations.

About the role

Reporting to the HR Director, you will be a key member of the HR Leadership team and play an integral role in shaping the business culture, while driving a number of critical people projects.

Based in the Midlands, you will lead the UK Cement division and operate as a true HR generalist covering all aspects of talent identification and development, employee engagement, change management, organisation design and performance across multiple sites, with focus on our Cauldon Cement plant.

In order to succeed you will have a proven track record of delivering in a fast paced multi-faceted environment with experience of building high performing and effective teams across broad populations.

Other elements to the role include:

Leading organisational change, including business restructures and critical people projects (strategy development and introduction of new initiatives)

Driving and developing our partnership with the recognised Trade Unions at a national level, in order to foster relationships and share best practices. This includes leading the annual pay negotiations on behalf of the business.

Managing our talent through the leadership of our talent calibration and succession planning processes

Identifying opportunities to promote cross business talent moves and developmental experiences to support talent management and retention

Establishing and maintaining stakeholder relationships, building capability and contributing to business discussions in order to drive people performance and the employee experience.

Leading and coaching best practice for managers and employees in matters relating to Performance Appraisal, Recruitment & Selection, Discipline & Grievance and Absence Management, working closely with L&D.

Working with other HR Business Partner(s) to achieve operational delivery of HR related projects (often cross-functionally) aligned to the business strategy

Offering expert advice to aid the resolution of complex employee relations issues. Taking proactive steps to identify trends, root causes and build wider manager capability

Advising & challenging managers on a variety of topics, including absence statistics, salary information, pay benchmarking

What will you bring?

HR or Business related Degree with CIPD qualification

Must have experience of leading union pay negotiations and consultation at a national level

Exposure to Cement or a similar heavy industry is desirable as well as knowledge of the competencies, people and skills required to perform at a high standard

Results focused with a strong eye for detail and a flexible 'can do' approach

Ability to work at pace, multi-task and prioritise effectively

Commercial acumen with an understanding of key business drivers and a pragmatic approach to problem solving

A strong teamwork ethic with a proven ability to work collaboratively.Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact, influence and build relationships at all levels

Confidence to challenge stakeholders

Proactive and forward thinking with the ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team

Innovative and adaptable with a drive to find creative solutions.Up to date knowledge of HR best practice and employment legislation
