Senior Mechanical Engineer | Didcot | circa £60,000pa plus benefits:

An exciting technical start-up who has seen investment and are embarking on an exciting growth is looking to recruit a talented Senior Mechanical Engineer. Our client has developed laser detection and monitoring technology which can be used for various applications.

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be expected to bring your past experiences to the design table and help shape the product by explaining to the team and product management why design choices are made. Testing is a key part of product development, and you are expected to help specify, design, carry out and document tests of subcomponents as well as prototype and final products during the product development and beyond. This role will be integral to how this product is designed and developed over the coming years.

The responsibilities for the Senior Mechanical Engineer:

Mechanical design of instruments and peripherals
Design to meet requirements of product manager, manufacturing, service, support and installation.
Mechanical design of jigs and fixtures for manufacture and test
Planning and management of deliverables on time
Supplier selection, quality inspection and handover to procurement
Design and documentation of prototype and instrument testing to meet mechanical requirements
Consideration to component supply cost, lead time and end of life
About you:

BEng or Higher. Experience in CAD packages especially Solid Works.
10+ years in relevant industry.
Start-up, deep technology, combined hardware/software products, laser spectroscopy preferred.
Full product development lifecycle from inception to market maturity.
Design for Manufacture, Service & Support.
Supplier selection and management. Prototyping using 3D printers as well as short run parts. Testing against regulations including environmental and shipping\handling.
Experience designing and conducting sub-component and final product testing is important.
Packaging design for shipment experience desirable.
