Project Manager (Manufacturing)
The Project Manager (Manufacturing) is responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and delivery of manufacturing projects within a highly regulated environment. This role ensures that manufacturing activities align with the overall project objectives, are delivered on time, within budget, and meet the required quality standards.
This role plays a key part in driving the success of the manufacturing aspect of the project, ensuring it contributes to the company’s overall goals and customer satisfaction.
Functionally they will report through the Master Production Scheduler to the Head of Manufacturing, for projects they will report (dotted line) to the Project Manager for their projects.
Key Activities
Facilitate and lead the development of the manufacturing project plan and monitor progress against the schedule.
Provide the Senior Project Manager and the Cost Engineer with updated cost forecasts for manufacturing activities on a monthly basis, according to the reporting calendar.
Act as the primary communication hub between the customer, Senior Project Manager, and the production facility.
Coordinate manufacturing activities and allocate resources (materials, personnel, equipment) in collaboration with procurement to meet project deadlines and ensure smooth operations.
Transfer the budget to procurement when an outsourcing decision is made (and vice-versa).
Lead customer visits and witness points as needed.
Produce project KPIs (e.g., schedule adherence, EVA, quality, cost, delivery).
Ensure manufacturing projects maintain quality and efficiency, complying with company and industry standards.
Ensure timely completion and communication of NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports).
Facilitate activities to address issues related to project budget, design or design changes, profitability, quality, and timeliness of delivery.
Attend and support production planning meetings, seeking to optimise the schedule and support the overall operation.
Complying with all Health, Safety and Environmental legislation and company standards.
Role related knowledge, qualifications and experience
Operational
Through understanding of Production processes, tolerances and work scopes
Knowledge of EVA
Able to produce and read project plans – GANTT chart format
Thorough understanding of financial reporting
Able to create risk analysis
Natural leader, able to ‘win’ support and negotiate solutions
IT
Excellent Excel, Project and PowerPoint skills
Ability to look beyond the data and understand the reasons and causes
Required qualifications, skills and attributes
Of graduate level / capability
At least 3 years of significant project experience in a highly regulated business
3 years of experience of Project Management in a manufacturing environment
Calm and methodical thinker, detail oriented and task focused
Very strong communication skills at levels from board to operator
Able to produce detailed, but brief project reporting
Power BI
Familiarity with MES or ERP systems
Salary and Benefits
