Junior Design Engineer (Minimum of 1 years experience) working within a small team, you will work on a broad range of chassis and subsystem mechanical designs under the supervision of the Senior Mechanical Engineer. The role requires extensive use of 3D CAD.
You must be able to interface with other teams within the business and suppliers about a given project and its overall design. You will work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams to develop innovative design solutions for a variety of unique engineering challenges. From concept to production, this is a vital role in delivering high-quality, reliable products – working closely with the engineering team, customers and suppliers.
Junior Design Engineer Role:
* Utilise Computer Aided Design (CAD) systems, particularly Solidworks, to design high-quality models and assemblies. Other CAD considered
* Generate engineering drawings and produce toleranced drawings and Bill of Materials (BOMs) for production.
* Conduct Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to analyse and validate designs.
* Demonstrate knowledge of machine tools and sheet metal manufacturing processes.
* Perform design calculations and create design concepts to support product development.
* Build prototypes, products, and systems suitable for testing, and set up and run simulations.
* Collaborate with customers & suppliers to understand requirements.
* Work within a team, utilizing own ideas and initiative to drive design solutions.
* Perform job functions in accordance with set policies and procedures to ensure preservation of Company Quality Policy.
* Occasional travel may be required to visit clients, suppliers, or attend industry events.
* The role may involve working outside regular hours to meet critical deadlines.
Junior Design Engineer Requirements:
* 1 years’ experience in a Mechanical Engineering role, ideally from a vehicle engineering industry.
* Knowledge of ISO26262 and the V-cycle.
* Educated to degree level in Mechanical / Automotive Engineering or similar.
* Highly proficient in using 3D CAD software. SolidWorks highly benefical
* Strong attention to detail and ability to check engineering drawings according to set standards.
* Motivated to expand and further develop knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
* Ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
* Strong communication skills and ability to work within a small team or independently.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
