Overview:
We are seeking a Senior Design Engineer to join a growing specialist systems integrator providing control and safety solutions for complex and critical applications across industries such as oil & gas, renewable energy, hydrogen, nuclear, and utilities. This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic and forward-looking company with a strong reputation for providing control and safety systems for specialist applications.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design control systems and electrical assemblies.
* Develop, manage, and maintain reliable software for PLC, HMI, and other devices.
* Create clear and accurate technical documentation including schematics, assembly drawings, BOMs, and wiring diagrams.
* Conduct practical functional tests, reliability tests, and user trials.
* Ensure electrical and controls compliance with international markets.
* Investigate change requests using a thorough and methodical approach.
* Drive continuous improvement of product reliability and durability.
* Develop control system designs, including hardware and software solutions using PLC, SCADA, and embedded systems.
* Prepare detailed hardware and software designs, liaise with vendors and suppliers, and document project specifications.
* Provide on-site customer support and collaborate with client representatives to develop system designs.
* Manage project engineering tasks, including maintaining awareness of commercial project costs.
Person Specification:
* Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and databases.
* HNC/HND/Degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
* Expertise in writing PLC programs using Ladder Logic, FBD, or Structured Text.
* Knowledge of electrical/machine legislation and British/European/international standards (desirable).
* Familiarity with design for assembly and serviceability.
* Ability to travel to client sites as required.
* Strong communication skills with both external and internal customers.
* Excellent planning, organisation, and problem-solving skills.
