Job Overview As a Building Surveyor, you will be responsible for conducting surveys, preparing reports, and providing expert advice on property and construction matters. You will work on a variety of projects across both residential and commercial sectors, ranging from small refurbishments to large-scale developments. Your role will involve inspecting properties, identifying any structural issues, advising on necessary repairs, and ensuring compliance with building regulations.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct detailed building surveys and inspections.
* Prepare comprehensive reports outlining findings and recommendations.
* Provide expert advice on property maintenance, repair, refurbishment, and restoration.
* Manage projects, including preparing specifications, tender documents, and overseeing contract administration.
* Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and building codes.
* Liaise with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to provide professional guidance and support.
* Conduct defect analysis and provide solutions for repair and maintenance.
* Assist in dilapidation surveys and prepare schedules of condition.
* Support junior team members and assist in their professional development.
Qualifications and Skills
* A degree in Building Surveying or a related field.
* Experience in a similar role, ideally within a consultancy environment.
* Strong knowledge of building construction, materials, and systems.
* Familiarity with UK building regulations and health and safety requirements.
* Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects effectively.
* Membership or working towards membership with RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) is desirable.
* Full UK driving license.
