Library Systems & Services (LS&S) is a professional library network currently seeking an Inventory Specialist to join the team. As the Inventory Specialist, you will be responsible for maintaining and managing the inventory of library materials within the African & Middle Eastern Division (AMED) of the Library of Congress. The LS&S team encourages idea sharing, problem-solving, and innovation. In this role, you will maintain a strong commitment to customer service and accuracy while upholding LS&S’ mission to provide unparalleled service to library patrons.
Responsibilities
Maintain accurate inventory of library materials
Ensure all library materials are properly shelved, sorted, and organized
Assist with shelf-reading and troubleshooting inventory discrepancies
Track and report on inventory status and trends
Maintain a clean and organized work environment
Requirements
Proficiency in Arabic and/or Persian languages
Bachelor's degree in Library Science or related field preferred
Experience with inventory management systems and software
Familiarity with library operations and procedures
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities
Must be able to stand, walk, and lift up to 50 pounds
