We are seeking an experienced and motivated Transport Supervisor to join our dynamic team. The Transport Supervisor will play a critical role in overseeing daily transport operations, ensuring the efficient and timely delivery of goods, and maintaining high standards of service for our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
* Team Supervision: Lead and manage a team of drivers, transport planners, and support staff, ensuring smooth and efficient daily operations.
* Transport Planning: Oversee the scheduling and routing of deliveries to maximise efficiency, reduce costs, and meet client deadlines.
* Compliance & Safety: Ensure all transport activities comply with legal requirements and health and safety regulations, including vehicle inspections, driver hours, and proper documentation.
* Performance Monitoring: Track and analyse transport performance metrics (e.g., on-time delivery, fuel efficiency), identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
* Customer Service: Act as the primary point of contact for clients regarding transport-related issues, addressing any concerns, delays, or special requests to maintain client satisfaction.
* Cost Control: Monitor transport budgets, manage fuel and maintenance costs, and seek opportunities to reduce expenses without compromising service levels.
* Reporting: Prepare regular reports on transport activities, including key performance indicators (KPIs), cost analysis, and any issues encountered during operations.
* Problem-Solving: Quickly resolve any operational challenges or emergencies, such as delays, vehicle breakdowns, or driver shortages, to minimize disruption to service.
* Collaboration: Work closely with warehouse and operations teams to coordinate inbound and outbound shipments, ensuring seamless handovers and optimised logistics flow.
Qualifications & Experience:
* Proven experience in a transport or logistics supervisory role, preferably within a 3PL environment.
* Strong knowledge of transport regulations, fleet management, and logistics planning.
* Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
* Experience using transport management systems (TMS) and related software.
* Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.
* Familiarity with health and safety practices in transport and logistics.
* Full UK Driving License and CPC qualification (preferred).
