Are you considering teaching training, but first you want to gain valuable hands on experience in secondary classrooms across Rotherham?
Academics are looking for a cover supervisor who is able to travel across Rotherham and the surrounding areas and looking for a fantastic opportunity to begin their career in education.
What is a cover supervisor?
A cover supervisor (also known as an unqualified teacher) works within secondary schools to provide cover for a class when a teacher is not available. They are employed on a flexible and day-to-day basis to ensure that a teacher can have time away from the classroom to carry out other duties (PPA time, training days etc). They may also cover lessons for short periods of time for teachers who are away from school due to sickness or for other absences. Cover supervisors are not responsible for planning or assessing a lesson, the teacher will set work for students to complete and the cover supervisor's responsibility is to manage behaviour and ensure that pupils remain on task and complete their work.
You will need:
Experience of an environment working with children or teenagers.
Self-motivated and reliable.
Flexible and able to travel around Rotherham and the surrounding areas.
Available to work Monday-Friday. Usual working hours are between 8.00am-3.30pm.
An Enhanced DBS that is registered with the Update Service or to be prepared to apply for a new DBS (cost applied).
A degree level qualification in any specialism.Academics also welcomes applications from candidates with experience of:
Working as a Teaching Assistant within schools.
Sports Coaching/Youth work
Drama or Art Workshops/Drama School/Theatre in Education
Working in Sunday Schools, Mosques or Synagogue schools
After School Club/Summer Camps
Scouts/Guides/Brownies/Cubs/Rainbows
Outdoor Activities Instructor/Duke of Edinburgh
Teaching abroad, teaching adults or tutoring
