The opportunity Our Client is one of the most iconic and well-known leading Motorcycle manufacturers in the World. Creating modern classics and with a healthy order book, it is our privilege to now be supporting them with the recruitment of an experienced Senior Design Engineer who from the outset will be involved in the design of retail customer facing Motorcycle products at various points in their product life cycle.

The role
As the Senior Design Engineer, your role will involve working with cross-functional teams in Industrial Design, Strategic Sourcing, Quality Assurance and OE Product Development.

Your duties and responsibilities will be
Designing systems and components for new and updated accessory projects, considering function, cost, manufacture, assembly and quality.
To produce good quality 3D CAD models using Pro-Engineer / CREO.
Producing good quality 2D engineering drawings, to ASME Y14.5.
Following and helping to maintain design, operational and quality procedures.
Producing supporting documentation for designs, as required and present these designs in cross functional team reviews.
Designing components and systems to comply with regulatory requirements & internal test procedures where needed.
Liaising with internal departments such as, Sourcing, Manufacturing, Quality and Assembly.
Liaising with outside suppliers.
Creating and managing timing plans for your areas of responsibility.
To work with CAD Designers or contractors allocated to help with creating CAD models.
Support testing department with the fixturing & testing of components & motorcycles.You will have the following qualifications & experience
Should ideally possess a Degree in Engineering (Mechanical preferred), although those with lesser qualifications and plenty of relevant experience; particularly on Motorcycles will also be considered.
Should be an experienced Senior Design Engineer who has a good knowledge of processes, such as castings, forgings, sheet metal and injection mouldings.
You will need to be an experienced Pro-Engineer / CREO CAD user.
Should have experience of creating and releasing 2D technical drawings to ASME Y14.5-2009.
You should have an understanding of geometric tolerances on 2D drawings, to ASME Y14.5-2009.
You should ideally have an understanding of Motorcycle chassis layout and construction.It’s great if you also have the following
Practical experience of vehicle maintenance and preparation is advantageous.
Experience supporting and mentoring junior team members would be advantageous.This position is available with immediate effect.
