Lead Senior Highways Engineer
Cardiff | Hybrid Working
Ready to lead highways projects rather than just deliver them?
If you're a Chartered Highways Engineer looking for greater influence, more technical leadership and the opportunity to shape major infrastructure projects from concept through to completion, this could be the next step in your career.
You'll join a well-established consultancy with a strong pipeline of highways and transportation projects across Wales and the wider UK. Working as part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you'll lead project delivery, mentor engineers and play a key role in developing innovative, sustainable transport solutions.
What's in it for you?
Lead the delivery of high-profile highways and transportation projects.
Work across a varied portfolio of local authority and infrastructure schemes.
Hybrid and flexible working to support a healthy work-life balance.
Take ownership of technical delivery and client relationships.
Mentor and develop junior engineers within a growing team.
Clear opportunities for progression into more senior leadership roles.
Join a collaborative consultancy with an excellent long-term workload.
The Role
As a Lead Senior Highways Engineer, you'll take responsibility for delivering highways design projects while acting as a technical lead within the team.
Your responsibilities will include:
Leading the design and delivery of highways and transportation projects.
Managing multidisciplinary design teams and coordinating technical outputs.
Producing and reviewing highway designs, calculations and technical reports.
Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders.
Providing technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers.
Ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the highest technical standards.
Supporting business development activities, bid preparation and framework opportunities.
Managing project risks while ensuring compliance with relevant design standards and CDM requirements.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys combining technical engineering with project leadership and client engagement.
About You
You'll be an experienced Highways Design Engineer who's ready to take ownership of projects and help shape the future of a growing team.
You'll ideally have experience in:
Highways design within a consultancy environment.
Leading multidisciplinary infrastructure projects.
Highway geometry, junction design and drainage coordination.
DMRB, Manual for Streets and UK highways standards.
Client and stakeholder management.
Technical checking and design assurance.
Mentoring and supporting junior engineers.
Working towards successful project delivery across multiple schemes.
Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with ICE, CIHT or an equivalent professional institution is highly desirable.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
This is more than a technical design role.
You'll have the opportunity to influence projects from the earliest stages, work closely with key clients and play a significant role in the growth of an established highways team. You'll gain exposure to a wide variety of projects while continuing to develop your leadership, technical and commercial skills.
If you're looking for a position where your expertise will genuinely make a difference and where you'll have the autonomy to lead projects rather than simply contribute to them, this is well worth exploring.
Interested?
Whether you're actively looking or simply open to hearing about opportunities, I'd be happy to arrange a confidential conversation.
Ganymede is committed to creating a diverse workforce and is an equal opportunities employer. We welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons regardless of age, disability, gender, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, and sexual orientation
