Salary: £520 to £560 per week

About the Role
We are recruiting on behalf of a specialist Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in the London Borough of Islington for a dedicated and resilient Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time, term-time basis.
The provision supports students with a range of additional needs, including ASD and ADHD, many of whom require additional support with behaviour, emotional regulation and engagement in learning. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people by helping them achieve positive outcomes in a supportive and structured environment.
Main Responsibilities

Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with ASD, ADHD and additional social, emotional and behavioural needs.
Support pupils with emotional regulation strategies and promote positive behaviour.
Build trusting relationships with students to encourage engagement and participation.
Work closely with teachers and the wider pastoral team to implement individual support plans.
Assist in creating a calm, safe and inclusive learning environment.
Support students both inside and outside the classroom where required.
Record observations and contribute to monitoring student progress.About You

Previous experience working within a PRU, alternative provision, SEN school or similar specialist setting is essential.
Experience supporting children or young people with ASD, ADHD and challenging behaviour.
Team Teach training is desirable.
Confident using behaviour management techniques and de-escalation strategies.
Calm, resilient and able to remain composed in challenging situations.
Passionate about supporting vulnerable young people to achieve their potential.
Able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team while using your own initiative.Why Horizon Teachers?
