About the Role
We are looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Cook/Chef to cover at a Ministry of Justice site for 2 weeks. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys preparing fresh, nutritious meals in a well-organised, modest kitchen environment.
Independently working, you will be responsible for producing high-quality meals while maintaining excellent standards of food safety and hygiene. The role requires flexibility, good organisational skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a secure environment.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare, cook, and present a variety of freshly made meals.
Assist with menu planning and daily food preparation.
Ensure all food is prepared to high standards of quality, taste, and presentation.
Maintain excellent food hygiene and health & safety standards in line with current legislation.
Monitor stock levels, rotate stock correctly, and minimise food waste.
Receive and store deliveries safely and appropriately.
Clean kitchen equipment and work areas to maintain a safe and hygienic environment.
Comply with all security procedures relevant to working on a Ministry of Justice site.
About You
The successful candidate will have:
At least a basic DBS certification.
Previous experience as a Cook or Chef in a commercial or institutional kitchen.
A good understanding of food hygiene and HACCP principles.
The ability to work independently.
Good time management and organisational skills.
A positive, flexible, and professional approach.
To note:
This specific placement is scheduled to last for 2 weeks. Depending on performance an extension could be offered. You also have the opportunity to tap into a wealth of other placements and work places!
