Senior Service Designer

Rate: £500 per day (Inside IR35)
Contract Length: Initial 3-month contract
Start Date: ASAP
Security Clearance: Active SC Clearance or eligibility to obtain SC clearance
Location: Remote with occasional travel (approximately one visit per month to a UK client site based in Newcastle, Manchester, Blackpool, Sheffield.

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Service Designer to join a high-profile public sector programme. The successful candidate will play a key role in designing and improving end-to-end services, ensuring they meet user needs while aligning with government standards and best practices.

Key Requirements

• Proven experience operating at Senior or Lead Service Designer level.
• Strong public sector and/or government digital services experience.
• Expert knowledge of Government Digital Service (GDS) standards, principles, and frameworks.
• Demonstrable experience designing and improving complex digital services.
• Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to engage effectively with multidisciplinary teams, senior stakeholders, and service users.
• Comfortable working in fast-paced delivery environments.
• Available to interview and start at short notice.

Essential Skills & Experience

• End-to-end service design across complex user journeys.
• Service blueprinting, journey mapping, and service improvement.
• User-centred design methodologies.
• Stakeholder engagement and workshop facilitation.
• Experience working within Agile delivery teams.
• Strong understanding of accessibility and inclusive design principles.
