Mechanical Contracts Manager

Location: Knutsford (with travel across the UK as required)
Salary: Up to £65,000 DOE + Healthcare + Company Vehicle
Sector: Retail Fit-Out / Building Services / Mechanical Projects

I'm working with a fast-growing building services and FM business that is looking to appoint a Mechanical Contracts Manager to support a busy portfolio of retail projects across the UK.

This is not a role for someone who wants a quiet desk and a predictable workload. The team operates in a fast-paced retail environment where projects move quickly, priorities change, and everyone pulls together to get the job done.

They're looking for someone who understands mechanical building services but also has the adaptability, organisation and commercial awareness needed to deliver projects successfully in live retail environments.

The position will act as the lead mechanical contact within the business, providing support and guidance across multiple projects while working closely with project managers, designers, clients and operational teams.

The role

Managing mechanical projects from inception through to completion
Overseeing HVAC, plumbing and mechanical building services installations
Managing projects ranging from minor works through to £1m packages
Coordinating programmes, site activities and project documentation
Managing subcontractors and specialist suppliers
Monitoring project costs, budgets, variations and commercial performance
Acting as the key point of contact for clients and stakeholders
Supporting commissioning, testing and project handover activities
Ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time and to the required quality standardsWhat they're looking for

Proven experience delivering mechanical building services projects
Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing and mechanical systems
Experience within retail construction, fit-out or fast-paced commercial environments
Strong commercial awareness and contract management skills
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and CDM Regulations
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
Full UK Driving LicenceWhat's important to them

Technical ability is important, but attitude is just as critical.

They want someone who is proactive, organised, comfortable working at pace and willing to get involved when needed. The successful person will become a key part of a close-knit team where collaboration, flexibility and problem solving are valued just as highly as technical knowledge.

Package

Salary up to £65,000 depending on experience
Company vehicle
Healthcare package
25 days holiday
Ongoing training and development
Opportunity to join a growing business with genuine long-term career prospectsIf you're a Mechanical Contracts Manager looking for a role where you can take ownership, work on a varied project portfolio and be part of an ambitious, growing business, we'd like to hear from you
