Quantity Surveyor

Location: Ashington and/or Durham.

Salary: £50,479 per annum, plus a £2,142 car allowance.

Hours: 37 per week, Monday to Friday.

Contract: Permanent

Closing Date: 12 Noon on Friday 7th August.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor to join our Assets & Property team. This role is responsible for delivering the day-to-day quantity surveying function and is key in maximising the social and financial return from our assets. This opportunity comes at a pivotal time following the launch of ‘The Bernicia Effect, Supporting Opportunity’ 2026-31 Corporate Strategy in which we will deliver major works of £121m to continue to improve our existing homes and neighbourhoods.

Role Benefits:

About the Quantity Surveyor Role:

This role will involve:

* Quantity surveying and contract administration. Deliver the day-to-day quantity surveying duties, including valuations, certifications, variations, final accounts, compliance with contract conditions, legislation, financial regulations, and delegatory requirements.

* Monitor commercial performance and financial control. Support contract award and administration by reporting on performance, completions, cashflow, unit/component data, and budget control, while identifying underperformance and supporting mitigation actions.

* Support project delivery and tendering activity. Attend sites, inspect works in progress, help develop scopes and schedules of work, contribute to tender documents and pricing schedules, and support pre-start and project delivery activities.

* Drive value, efficiency, and risk management. Maximise value for money, social value, and operational efficiency by identifying commercial and operational risks, streamlining processes, and supporting continuous improvement across planned investment and asset activity.
