Our client, a leading company in the data centre sector, is currently seeking an experienced and driven EHS Lead to join their project team in Blyth, United Kingdom. This is an excellent opportunity for a health and safety professional to take ownership of Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) performance on a major project, ensuring compliance with all applicable legislation while championing a proactive and positive safety culture across the site.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide leadership and oversight for all Environmental, Health & Safety activities throughout the project.
Develop, implement, and continuously improve EHS policies, procedures, and management systems in line with company standards and statutory requirements.
Drive a strong safety-first culture, embedding best practices across all project activities.
Conduct routine site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement effective control measures.
Collaborate closely with Project Managers, Construction Managers, and subcontractors to ensure EHS objectives are fully integrated into site operations.
Monitor subcontractor performance and compliance with project-specific and legislative health and safety requirements.
Review and approve key safety documentation, ensuring they meet required standards.
Lead the investigation, reporting, and follow-up of incidents, ensuring corrective actions are implemented and monitored.
Deliver site inductions, toolbox talks, training programmes, and safety awareness initiatives for project personnel.
Maintain accurate records of inspections, audits, incidents, training activities, and safety performance indicators.
Attend and actively contribute to Site Meetings, Safety Meetings, and Project Review sessions.
Produce and present EHS reports, updates, and performance metrics to senior management and key stakeholders.
Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and support the delivery of project sustainability objectives.
Identify emerging EHS risks, implement improvement initiatives, and drive continuous enhancement of safety performance across the project.

Skills & Qualifications:

Qualification in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related discipline.
Experience in an EHS role within the construction, engineering, or related sectors.
Comprehensive knowledge of health and safety legislation, industry regulations, and best practice.
Proven experience leading EHS functions on large-scale construction projects.
Strong leadership capabilities with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to analyse complex issues and develop practical solutions.
Relevant professional qualifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent.
Ability to influence teams at all levels and foster a positive, accountable safety culture.
Previous experience on data centre, industrial, or mission-critical projects would be highly advantageous.
