About the Role
Our Client is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join their inclusive and supportive team in Plumstead. This rewarding role involves providing essential learning and accessibility support to young people and adults with Special Educational Needs (SEN), helping them achieve their educational goals while developing confidence, independence, and life skills.
The successful candidate will provide support across a range of curriculum areas, with a particular focus on Hair, English, and Maths. Working closely with teaching staff and support managers, you will play a key role in helping learners overcome barriers to education and participate fully in college life.
Key Responsibilities
* Support learners within classroom and practical learning environments.
* Assist students in accessing Hair, English, and Maths learning programmes.
* Promote independence, self-advocacy, and personal development.
* Support the implementation and review of individual learning and support plans.
* Assist learners with mobility, personal care, and wellbeing where required.
* Work alongside teaching staff to monitor progress and identify barriers to learning.
* Facilitate access to support services, specialist equipment, and assistive technologies.
* Maintain a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
* Liaise with teaching staff, support teams, parents, carers, and external agencies as appropriate.
* Contribute positively to the educational and social development of learners.
About You
* Evidence of a minimum Level 2 qualification in both English and Maths is essential.
* Experience supporting learners with SEN or additional learning needs is desirable.
* Understanding of safeguarding and inclusive learning practices.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Strong IT skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
* Patient, adaptable, and committed to helping learners achieve their potential.
* Knowledge of Makaton, BSL, or Sign-a-Long would be advantageous.
