Teaching Assistant - Year 5 Intervention Support - September 2026 - Haringey Primary School
A high-achieving Primary School in Haringey, North London is looking to appoint an enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join their KS2 team from September 2026.
The school is already arranging trial days during the first week back and is keen to appoint an ambitious Teaching Assistant who is passionate about raising attainment through targeted intervention work.
As a Teaching Assistant, your primary focus will be delivering Maths, English and Phonics interventions to Year 5 pupils, helping children consolidate key skills ahead of Year 6. The successful Teaching Assistant will work closely with the class teacher, supporting pupils in small groups and ensuring they make strong academic progress throughout the year.
This Teaching Assistant role would suit experienced school support staff, graduates considering teacher training, or Psychology graduates looking to put their academic knowledge into practice within a classroom.
Teaching Assistant Responsibilities
Delivering targeted Maths interventions as a Teaching Assistant
Supporting English attainment through structured intervention sessions
Delivering Phonics support where required as a Teaching Assistant
Working with small groups of Year 5 pupils
Monitoring pupil progress alongside the class teacher
Encouraging confidence, independence and positive learning behaviours
Working collaboratively with teachers and support staff as a Teaching Assistant
Supporting pupils to achieve their academic potential as a Teaching Assistant
