Overview

EMBS Engineering are working in partnership with a manufacturing business operating in a precision engineering environment looking to secure a new Quality Manager. This is a hands-on leadership role, responsible for driving the business through to full AS9100 accreditation and leading a team of Quality Engineers, Technicians and Inspectors.

This is a pivotal appointment with clear, time-critical objectives, including successful completion of a two-stage AS9100 audit. The right candidate will bring genuine Quality Manager experience and the confidence to lead from the front.

* 35-hour working week

* 25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays, rising to 28 days after 7 years' service.

Key Responsibilities

* Take full ownership of the Quality Management System (QMS), leading its continual improvement in line with ISO9001 and driving the business towards AS9100 accreditation.

* Lead and manage the Quality department day-to-day, including Quality Engineers, Technicians and Inspectors.

* Manage quality-related projects, ensuring compliance with all relevant quality standards.

* Write and review quality procedures, ensuring documentation is fit for purpose and reflects best practice.

* Lead root cause analysis and drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) through to closure.

* Interface with customers and auditors, supporting audit preparation, execution and follow-up actions.

* Manage supplier quality activity, including evaluation, performance monitoring and non-conformance follow-up.

* Provide clear direction to the team, holding people to account to ensure tasks are completed on time.

Requirements

* Proven experience working in a Quality Manager role, with the confidence to lead a department.

* Genuine, hands-on experience with AS9100.

* Experience managing and leading a small team.

* Background within a precision engineering environment with manufacturing capabilities.

* Working knowledge of how quality procedures should be structured and documented.

* A direct, confident approach, with the ability to address issues and drive tasks to completion.

* Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities against tight deadlines.
