As a Fabricator, you are responsible for marking out, cutting, fitting, and welding steel components used in
the manufacture of bespoke conveyor systems. You will work from engineering drawings and job
specifications to ensure each component is produced accurately and efficiently. The role requires
competence in MIG welding, the safe operation of fabrication equipment, and strict adherence to
company safety procedures and quality standards.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
• Mark out, cut, and prepare materials in accordance with drawings, specifications, and
works orders.
• Set up and operate MIG welding and fabrication equipment safely and effectively.
• Use jigs and fixtures when required to ensure components are accurately assembled.
• Operate hand tools, grinders, and cutting torches to complete fabrication tasks.
• Follow all fabrication and workshop procedures in line with company policies and safety
requirements.
• Ensure all relevant risk assessments are completed and understood before commencing
any task or using tools or machinery.
• Handle and move materials safely using approved manual handling techniques and lifting
equipment.
• Maintain housekeeping standards to ensure a clean and organised work area.
• Read and interpret technical drawings to check dimensions and tolerances.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to support production schedules and workflow.
• Conduct and record at least one safety conversation per week using the company safety
conversation app, ensuring all entries are accurate and completed on time.
• Adhere to all company health and safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements.
• Report any hazards, incidents, or near misses immediately to shop floor management or
the QHSE team.
• Work effectively within a busy manufacturing environment, maintaining awareness of
machinery, moving parts, noise, and heat, and using PPE as required.
• Carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by management
