Our client is a leading multidisciplinary engineering consultancy with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality design solutions across the residential, commercial, industrial and infrastructure sectors. Due to continued growth and a healthy project pipeline, they are seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join their established team in Nottingham.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious engineer looking to develop their career within a collaborative consultancy environment, working on a wide range of technically challenging projects across the UK.
Role
As a Geotechnical Engineer, you will play a key role in the delivery of geotechnical projects from feasibility stage through to detailed design. You will be involved in both technical analysis and project delivery, working closely with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Responsibilities include:
Interpreting ground investigation data and preparing geotechnical reports.
Undertaking foundation design, earthworks assessments, retaining wall design, and slope stability analysis.
Developing geotechnical models and design recommendations.
Managing and supervising site investigations.
Liaising with clients, contractors, and internal project teams.
Assisting with project management, programme delivery, and technical reviews.
Supporting junior engineers and contributing to the growth of the team.
Requirements
The successful candidate will have:
A degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology or a related discipline.
Previous experience within a geotechnical consultancy or engineering environment.
Strong knowledge of ground investigation techniques and geotechnical design principles.
Experience preparing factual and interpretative geotechnical reports.
Familiarity with relevant UK standards and Eurocodes.
Experience using industry software such as Geo5, Oasys, SLOPE/W, Wallap, or similar.
Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
Chartered status or actively working towards Chartership (ICE or Geological Society).
Experience across infrastructure, residential, commercial, or industrial developments.
Geo-environmental experience would be advantageous.
