We're looking for a Quality Assurance Technician to join a leading rail manufacturing programme, playing a vital role in ensuring every product meets the highest standards of quality, safety and compliance.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative production environment where you'll work closely with Quality, Production, Engineering and Supplier teams to support the manufacture of cutting-edge rolling stock. The Role

As a Quality Assurance Technician, you'll be responsible for maintaining quality throughout the manufacturing process, ensuring products comply with customer specifications and internal quality standards.

Working on the production floor, you'll carry out inspections, monitor manufacturing quality, investigate issues and support continuous improvement initiatives that contribute to the successful delivery of major rail projects.

Key Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include:

Conducting in-process inspections and quality checks throughout the manufacturing process

Performing incoming inspections on trains, components and materials

Inspecting and approving products at key manufacturing quality gates

Recording inspection results and making quality acceptance decisions

Monitoring and documenting production deviations and ensuring corrective actions are implemented

Supporting the development and continuous improvement of quality processes and procedures

Managing and maintaining quality documentation, including vehicle and train records

Supporting configuration management activities to ensure product compliance

Coordinating rework activities with production teams where required

Participating in production meetings, milestone reviews and customer acceptance activities

Working closely with Production Supervisors, Quality Team Leaders and Engineering teams to resolve quality issues

Supporting supplier quality investigations and collaborating with Supplier Quality Assurance teams

Escalating significant quality concerns where appropriate to ensure timely resolution

About You

We're looking for an organised and detail-focused quality professional with experience working in manufacturing or engineering environments.

Essential Skills & Experience

Previous experience in a Quality Assurance, Quality Control or Inspection role

Experience within manufacturing, engineering or industrial production

Strong understanding of quality inspection processes and quality standards

Ability to interpret technical documentation and engineering drawings

Experience identifying quality issues and supporting corrective actions

Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills

Strong communication skills with the ability to build effective working relationships across multiple teams

Confident using Microsoft Office and electronic quality management systems

Desirable

Experience within the rail or rolling stock industry

Knowledge of supplier quality assurance processes

Experience with configuration management

Familiarity with manufacturing quality gates and customer acceptance activities

Continuous improvement experience, including Lean or Six Sigma methodologies
