Our client, a well-established leader in marine equipment design and manufacturing, is seeking a Head of Planning and Subcontract Manufacturing to join their dynamic team. This permanent role involves overseeing the planning, supply chain management, and subcontract manufacturing processes, ensuring the seamless delivery of products to customers.
Primary Job Purpose
Ensure all customer product orders are delivered On-Time-In-Full (OTIF)
Plan the workload, materials, and equipment/tooling for all build demands
Raise external requirements to subcontractors and suppliers and liaise with them to achieve OTIF delivery
Coordinate with Sales and Programme Management to align and communicate Production Plans across the business
Collaborate with Supply Chain and Engineering to ensure materials plans are in place
Negotiate with suppliers and manage expectations
Key Responsibilities
Interpret ERP/MRP requirements and review order recommendations to drive orders placement
Work closely with Supply Chain to ensure timely raising of purchase requisitions and on-time materials delivery
Monitor job status and performance with production and procurement teams, driving mitigations and liaising with suppliers to address issues promptly
Provide regular project updates, stock and order information, and highlight opportunities for improvement
Coordinate with Engineering teams to ensure system compliance with change notices and current build status
Support Finance in end-of-month cycle counting, WIP reporting, and material audits
Manage Inventory and Working Capital to maximise investments
Plan and manage internal and subcontractor capacity, and develop and maintain supply chain resilience plans
Drive planning through the use of ERP/MRP tools
Fully comply with company policies and procedures
Lead and develop a team of production planners and subcontract managers
Work with Manufacturing Engineering and Supply Chain to drive supplier improvement plans
Promote continuous improvement across all operations
Job Requirements
Education and Qualifications
Degree qualified, preferably
CPIM Certification is an advantage
Strong computer-based literacy
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Extensive experience as a Head of Planning in a manufacturing environment
Experience in electronics and electromechanical assembly is advantageous
Proficient with MRP tools (IFS knowledge is an advantage)
Excellent communication skills and experience working with senior executives
Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing Tools and Techniques
