Managing Quantity Surveyor
Location: Peterborough (covering social housing maintenance contracts across the surrounding region)
Salary: £70,000 - £75,000 + Car Allowance + Bonus + Excellent Benefits
Managing Quantity Surveyor - Social Housing | Main Contractor
Our client is a well-established and growing main contractor delivering planned maintenance and reactive maintenance contracts within the social housing sector. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Managing Quantity Surveyor to lead the commercial function across a portfolio of long-term social housing maintenance contracts throughout Peterborough and the surrounding areas.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially driven professional looking to take ownership of a high-performing commercial team while working for a business with a strong pipeline of secured work.
The Role
Reporting to the Commercial Director, you will be responsible for the commercial management of multiple social housing maintenance contracts, ensuring profitability, contractual compliance, and effective commercial governance.
You will lead and mentor a team of Quantity Surveyors, providing commercial support across planned works, responsive repairs, voids, and refurbishment projects.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the commercial delivery of multiple social housing maintenance contracts.
Manage and develop a team of Quantity Surveyors and Assistant Quantity Surveyors.
Oversee valuations, applications for payment, variations, cost reporting, and final accounts.
Ensure accurate forecasting, budgeting, and financial reporting.
Manage subcontractor procurement, payments, and commercial performance.
Identify commercial risks and implement mitigation strategies.
Build strong relationships with clients, operational teams, and supply chain partners.
Drive commercial best practice across all projects.
Support business growth through strategic commercial input and contract performance.
About You
The successful candidate will have:
Proven experience as a Senior or Managing Quantity Surveyor within a main contractor environment.
Previous experience working on social housing maintenance, planned works, repairs, refurbishment, or property services contracts.
Excellent commercial acumen with experience managing large contract values.
Previous experience leading and mentoring commercial teams.
Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
Full UK driving licence.
