The Role
We are recruiting for a Trainee Furnace Operator to join a specialist manufacturing environment.
This is a hands-on role working alongside the Furnace Supervisor to support the safe and efficient running of the production furnaces. Full training will be provided, making this a great opportunity for someone with a practical mindset who is keen to develop their skills within a technical manufacturing environment.
The role will involve monitoring the furnace operation, checking production levels, responding to faults and ensuring production targets are met.
£14.20 per hour
Hours:
Core hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm
Flexibility is required to work overtime, weekends and night shifts when required by the business.
Key Responsibilities
Supporting the Furnace Supervisor with the day-to-day running of the furnaces
Assisting with the start-up and shutdown of furnace equipment
Monitoring and adjusting furnace control panels when required
Monitoring production readings and operating levels
Ensuring the furnace is running correctly for the required product specification
Carrying out general fault finding and troubleshooting during production
Identifying and responding to production faults
Changing miller screens when required
Cleaning vacuums and filters
Recording production statistics, average figures and total output
Helping to ensure production targets are achieved
Working closely with R&D Engineers and management
Using internal systems, Excel and computer software to record production data
Following all company health and safety procedures
Skills:
A practical and hands-on approach to work
Good awareness of health and safety
Reliable and hardworking attitude
Willingness to learn and develop within a technical role
Basic computer skills, including Excel
Ability to use internal software systems for data logging
A basic understanding of electrical systems would be advantageous
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Flexibility to work different shifts, weekends and nights when required
