Our client, a prominent player in the Defence & Security sector, is seeking a dedicated Manufacturing Engineer to join their team in Swindon. This permanent position involves working within General Manufacturing and Final Assembly & Integration, specifically focusing on advanced unmanned aircraft systems (UAS).

Key Responsibilities:

Process Design & Industrialisation:

Defining and proving manufacturing processes for mechanical and integrated assemblies, including final assembly/integration steps.
Creating and controlling work instructions, routings, and standard work.
Supporting ramp-up using time studies, line balancing, layout optimisation, and capacity planning.
Tooling, Fixtures & Equipment:

Specifying and commissioning fixtures and assembly aids for quality, ergonomics, and takt time.
Owning qualification and maintenance approaches for critical tooling and equipment.
Quality & Problem Solving:

Building PFMEAs and control plans; leading RCCA on non-conformances and repeat build issues.
Driving improvements in first-pass yield, scrap/rework reduction, throughput, and build stability.
Operating within regulated aerospace quality environments, such as AS9100.
Continuous Improvement:

Leading Lean improvements across safety, quality, throughput, lead time, and cost.
Change Management:

Implementing engineering changes on the floor, including impact assessment, documentation updates, cut-in, and team briefing.

Job Requirements:

Essential:

Experience in manufacturing/process engineering within regulated, engineered product environments.
Strong shop-floor process ownership and practical problem-solving skills.
Confidence with tooling/fixtures, capacity planning, and Lean/CI methodologies.
Desirable:

Exposure to integration and testing, tech transfer, new facility/cell stand-up, and Six Sigma.
Security:

Eligible for UK SC clearance; BPSS eligible from day one.
