Our client, a leading entity in the defence and security sector, is currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineer - NPI to join their team in Swindon. This is an exciting permanent role for someone passionate about advancing unmanned aircraft technology.
Key Responsibilities:
Leading readiness activities: building strategy, tooling/fixtures, test approaches, work instructions, training, and capacity planning
Planning and executing pilot builds; capturing learnings and standardizing work processes
Owning manufacturing deliverables through readiness reviews and integration plans
Providing the manufacturing perspective in design reviews to drive practical improvements and reduce risks, build time, and rework
Creating controlled documentation, including routings, work instructions, standard work, PFMEAs, and control plans
Translating existing build knowledge into a controlled UK production system
Removing blockers, leading problem-solving activities, and driving corrective actions to prevent repeat issues
Job Requirements:
Strong experience in NPI/industrialisation within a regulated manufacturing environment
Proven track record of moving products from prototype/low-rate into stable production
Hands-on, practical leadership style and comfort with ambiguity
Proficiency in Lean/Continuous Improvement and structured problem-solving methods
Desirable: experience with new facility/cell stand-up, tech transfer, supply chain industrialisation, and Six Sigma
Eligible for UK SC clearance; BPSS eligible from day one
