SEN Learning Support Assistant - Basingstoke
Prospero Teaching is recruiting a caring and committed SEN Learning Support Assistant to support pupils in the Basingstoke area. This role involves working with children and young people who have a range of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, communication needs, and social, emotional or behavioural challenges.
You will work closely with teachers and support staff to provide personalised support that enables pupils to access learning, develop confidence, and make progress in a supportive educational environment. Support may be provided on a 1:1 basis or through small‑group interventions, depending on individual needs.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.
The Role:
Provide 1:1 support and small‑group interventions for pupils with SEN
Support pupils during lessons, activities, and daily school routines
Assist with emotional regulation and behaviour support strategies
Adapt learning activities to meet individual pupil needs
Encourage confidence, independence, and engagement in learning
Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and support staff
Promote a positive, inclusive, and structured learning environment
Follow safeguarding and school policies consistentlyIdeal Candidate:
Experience working with children, young people, or vulnerable individuals
Patient, supportive, and empathetic approach
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Able to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
Flexible and adaptable to changing needs and situations
Reliable and able to work effectively as part of a team
Backgrounds in SEN, care, youth work, support work, or education welcomedContract Details:

Working Pattern: Full‑time, term‑time
Pay Rate: £14.25 - £15.66 per hour
Key Stages: Primary / SecondaryExperience, Training & Safeguarding:
SEN or relevant support experience desirable
Safeguarding training can be provided
Knowledge of SEN strategies beneficial but not essentialWhat Prospero Teaching Offers:
