SEN Learning Support Assistant
Prospero Teaching is recruiting a dedicated and compassionate SEN Learning Support Assistant to support pupils in the Winchester area. This role involves working with children and young people who have a range of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, communication needs, and social, emotional or behavioural challenges.
You will work closely with teachers and support staff to provide tailored support that helps pupils access learning, build confidence, and develop independence. Support may be delivered on a 1:1 basis or through small‑group interventions, depending on the needs of individual pupils.

The Role:
Provide 1:1 support and small‑group interventions for pupils with SEN
Support pupils during lessons, activities, and school routines
Assist with emotional regulation and behaviour support
Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs
Encourage pupil engagement, confidence, and independence
Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and support staff
Promote a positive, inclusive, and structured learning environment
Follow safeguarding and school policies consistently
Ideal Candidate:
Experience working with children, young people, or vulnerable individuals
Patient, supportive, and understanding approach
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Able to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
Flexible and responsive to varying needs and situations
Reliable and able to work effectively as part of a team
Backgrounds in SEN, care, youth work, support work, or education welcomed
Contract Details:
Position: SEN Learning Support Assistant
Location: Winchester
Start Date: ASAP
Working Pattern: Full‑time, term‑time
Pay Rate: £14.25 - £15.66 per hour
Key Stages: Primary / Secondary
Experience, Training & Safeguarding:
SEN or relevant support experience desirable
Safeguarding training can be provided
Knowledge of SEN strategies beneficial but not essential
