Quality Manager – Aerospace Manufacturing
Location: Rochford, Essex
Salary: Up to £50,000 (Dependent on Experience)
Hours: Monday – Thursday | 6:45am – 4:30pm (37-hour week)
Are you an experienced Quality Manager with a strong aerospace background and proven leadership skills? We are recruiting for an exciting opportunity with a well-established precision engineering manufacturer based in the Rochford area.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll be responsible for maintaining the Quality Management System, leading a skilled inspection team, and ensuring compliance with the highest aerospace quality standards.
The Role
Reporting to the General Manager, you will oversee all quality activities across the business, managing a team of two experienced inspectors while balancing priorities including FAIR completion, subcontractor quality activities, audits and day-to-day manufacturing support.
Key Responsibilities
*
Manage and maintain the Quality Management System in line with AS9100/ISO 9100 requirements.
*
Lead, motivate and develop the Quality Inspection team.
*
Create, review and approve FAIRs and LAIRs using VisualFAIR software.
*
Plan and conduct internal and external quality audits.
*
Act as the company's quality representative for customers and certification bodies.
*
Oversee calibration, testing and inspection activities throughout manufacturing.
*
Ensure all inspection equipment remains calibrated and compliant.
*
Support subcontractor quality activities and quotations.
*
Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the quality function.
*
Identify training needs and support ongoing team development.
*
Participate in management review meetings and support wider business objectives.
About You
To be considered, you'll ideally have:
*
Essential aerospace manufacturing experience.
*
Strong experience completing and approving First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs).
*
Working knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9100 and EASA standards.
*
Internal and/or external auditing qualification and experience.
*
Previous leadership or line management experience.
*
Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
*
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage changing priorities.
*
Strong communication skills and a collaborative leadership style.
*
A proactive approach with exceptional attention to detail.
